The film is based on accounts by Mexican journalist Héctor de Mauleón and depicts the capture of Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, on Jan. 8, 2016, after he escaped through a drainage system. It also features his associate Jorge Iván 'El Cholo' Gastélum, who was later extradited to the US in 2023. The release coincides with new footage of Guzmán's first hours in captivity published by El Universal.
