背景
The Navier–Stokes existence and smoothness problem is one of seven Millennium Prize Problems selected by the Clay Mathematics Institute in 2000, each carrying a $1 million prize; before this, only one other had been solved. OpenAI said it began pursuing the problems on September 1 after hearing rumors that two Millennium Prize problems had already been resolved, which it later linked to NYU professor Tristan Buckmaster and Anthropic employee Levent Alpöge. The announcement drew attention both as a sign of AI's growing role in advanced mathematics and because of questions over how OpenAI reached the result.
