Background
The human genome has about 3 billion base pairs, and scientists understand only 2% that codes for proteins. Testing each possible single-letter change in the lab is impossible, so DeepMind used its AlphaGenome AI model to precompute predictions for all 9 billion variants, covering regulatory regions that switch genes on and off. The Atlas was released on September 8, 2026, as a free portal, API, and Antigravity skill.
