Android 17 adds APIs without AOSP release

GrapheneOS says Android 17 QPR1 added new developer APIs without an AOSP release.
Those APIs are Pixel-only for now, so other Android makers wait.

  2. Sep 15, 2026Android 17 QPR1 was released.
  3. Sep 16, 2026GrapheneOS posted that Android 17 QPR1 is the first release since Android Honeycomb (3.x) adding new APIs for app developers without a release to AOSP, and that the APIs are currently exclusive to the Pixel OS.
