Background
"R.J. Decker" follows a disgraced newspaper photographer and ex-con who restarts as a private investigator in South Florida, working cases with his journalist ex, her police detective wife and a shadowy benefactor. Season 1 ended with R.J. avoiding a return to prison and apparently moving against corrupt politician Victor Ochoa, who was then found dead in the finale's final moments. For Season 2, showrunner Rob Doherty said the team wanted to look more closely at who R.J. is beyond his 18 months in prison, including his childhood and the path that led him there.
