Susan Collins and Troy Jackson wrap four Maine Senate debates
The gist
Republican Sen. Susan Collins and Democrat Troy Jackson met in their fourth and final Maine Senate debate.
The race could decide Senate control and tests Collins's moderate brand.
How it unfolded
- Oct 8, 2026Collins and Jackson took part in a Senate debate hosted by Maine's Total Coverage, the second between them, sparring over tariffs on Canadian goods, oil prices and abortion access.
- Oct 9, 2026Collins campaigned and signed the cast of Finley Swartz at a Maine fairgrounds.
- Oct 12, 2026A GOP group backing Collins accidentally bought an ad in Portland, Oregon, instead of Portland, Maine; the ad criticized Jackson as "taxin' Troy Jackson," was taken down, and the group said the purchase would be refunded.
