Milwaukee Brewers reach World Series
Archived — this story has rotated out of today’s deck. It is kept here in full.
The gist
The Milwaukee Brewers swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS to reach their first World Series since 1982.
Both the Brewers and Rays have never won a title, so one drought ends.
Background
The Milwaukee Brewers are an MLB team in the sport's smallest market, in their 57th season in Milwaukee, and have never won a World Series. They had reached the Fall Classic only once before, in 1982, and had lost the 2025 NLCS to these same Dodgers in a sweep. This year's team won a franchise-record 103 games and a fourth straight NL Central title, then reversed that Dodgers result to take the pennant.
How it unfolded

- 2025The Brewers set a then-franchise record with 97 wins, and the Dodgers swept them in the NLCS.
- Oct 11, 2026Trevor Megill pitched a scoreless ninth to complete a 2-1 NLCS Game 1 win over the Dodgers at American Family Field.
- Oct 15, 2026The Brewers swept the Dodgers in the NLCS, clinching the pennant in Game 4 in Los Angeles.
- Oct 22, 2026A 2026 World Series banner was seen outside American Family Field.
- Oct 23, 2026Game 1 of the World Series is set for Friday at American Family Field, with Jacob Misiorowski expected to start; Game 2 is also there.
