Discord will soon let anyone find public server messages through Google
The gist
Discord will let messages from its most public servers appear in Google search results from mid-December.
Admins and members can opt out, but chat content becomes open to the web.
How it unfolded
- Oct 27, 2026Discord announced that messages from certain servers would be allowed to appear in Google and other web search results, with privacy controls for admins and users.
- Nov 16, 2026Discord began automatically creating public Server Web Pages for every Discoverable Server that didn't already have one, using details from the Server Profile if admins didn't set one up. From this date, the pages may also start showing Channel Summaries of active conversations.
- mid-December 2026Messages posted in eligible public channels may start appearing on Server Web Pages and in search engine results, rolling out gradually over several weeks. Messages sent before the rollout will not be included.
