Trump touts perfect cognitive test scores at midterm rallies
The gist
President Trump told midterm rallies he aced three cognitive tests and wants mandatory testing for candidates.
A neurologist says a perfect score shows normal function, not exceptional intelligence.
How it unfolded
- May 26, 2026Trump underwent a medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center; a later memorandum reported he scored the maximum on a cognitive screening test.
- May 2026In a Truth Social post, Trump claimed to have passed four cognitive assessments with full marks; public records substantiate several perfect scores, but not every test he has described.
- Jun 2026Neurologist Ziad Nasreddine, who developed the assessment, said it was not designed to identify exceptional intelligence and that a perfect score supports normal performance on that screening.
