The attacks mark the heaviest Houthi assault on Saudi Arabia since the conflict reignited in July, when the Houthis allowed an Iranian plane to land in Sanaa in defiance of Saudi control of Yemeni airspace. Weeks of clashes have added pressure to limited global oil supplies as the Houthis target a shipping route Saudi Arabia uses to transport oil while the Strait of Hormuz is throttled by the U.S.-Iran war. Saudi Arabia is the world's largest oil exporter, and its southern region houses major facilities including a 400,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Jazan.

Still unverified
The Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out an air strike on a detention facility in al-Hazm, in Yemen's al-Jawf province, killing seven people including a child and wounding at least seven others; Saudi Arabia had not commented on the allegation. It is also not clear exactly when the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia occurred, according to the Saudi foreign ministry.
