The gist
Four weeks after the Season 4 finale, Apple TV has not officially renewed "Ted Lasso" for Season 5.
Star Jason Sudeikis says he wants more, but no writers' room has started.
Background
"Ted Lasso" is an Apple TV comedy that debuted in 2020 and has won 13 Emmy Awards, including back-to-back honors for outstanding comedy series. Season 3 was originally intended to be the show's final season, ending with Ted leaving AFC Richmond and returning to Kansas City to be closer to his son Henry; after a three-year gap, Season 4 returned with Ted coaching a second-division women's football team. Jason Sudeikis, the show's star, co-creator and executive producer, told The Hollywood Reporter he revived the series with another three-season arc in mind, but no renewal has followed the finale.
