Two Fast & Furious cars tied to Paul Walker's character resurface after 23 years
Archived — this story has rotated out of today’s deck. It is kept here in full.
The gist
Collectors say they recovered a Mitsubishi Evo and a Camaro from 2 Fast 2 Furious after 23 years.
Both are tied to Paul Walker's character; one heads to a SEMA unveiling.
Background
Paul Walker was the actor who played Brian O'Conner in the Fast & Furious film franchise, and both cars in this story are tied to that character. Gabriel Tremblay, a car collector with The Furious Garage — a project that tracks down and preserves movie vehicles and says it has already saved 15 — says he found the Candy Lime Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII from 2 Fast 2 Furious in a barn garage in upstate New York. Separately, British mechanic Sam Hard built a YouTube series, "2 Fast 2 Broken," around buying and restoring a screen-used Chevrolet Camaro from the same film, which he says served as a hero car driven by Walker before its stunt duties.
How it unfolded
- Nov 1, 2019Sam Hard first spots the mangled 1969 "Yenko" Camaro stunt car inside the YearOne headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, the shop that built the cars for the movie.
- Oct 14, 2026Gabriel Tremblay says on Instagram that his team tracked down what he calls the original Hero 1 Evo, found in a barn garage in upstate New York after being lost for almost 23 years, and that he is preparing it for a public re-debut at Fuelfest in Tampa.
- Oct 17, 2026Episode 1 of "2 Fast 2 Broken" launches on the Hard Up Garage YouTube channel, following Hard's mission to acquire and restore the Camaro, recovered after 23 years in storage.
- Oct 19, 2026The four-part series is reported, with a 15-day rebuild and an unveiling set for the Aces Fuel Injection booth at SEMA on Tuesday 3 November at 11:30am Las Vegas time.
- Dec 5, 2026FuelFest returns to Chandler's Firebird Motorsports Park with more than 600 cars, including a special display of a Toyota GR Supra MkV Final Edition donated to Reach Out WorldWide, to be auctioned at Barrett-Jackson in January.
Who’s saying what
- Collector
- Gabriel Tremblay described the find as the day his team located Paul Walker's missing Hero 1 Evo and said he is getting it ready for a public re-debut at Fuelfest in Tampa.
- Restorer
- Sam Hard said he never thought a backstreet mechanic like him could buy and restore the actual Camaro from 2 Fast 2 Furious, but that with enough blood, sweat and the right friends even the wildest dream can end up in your workshop.
- Family
- Cody Walker, Paul Walker's brother and FuelFest co-founder, said they wanted an experience that felt authentic rather than corporate or polished to the point where it loses its soul.
Still unverified
