About gg2
gg2 is an iPhone app that explains the day’s trending news. Each story the world is talking about becomes a single card that answers the same questions every time: what happened, why it happened, how it unfolded, what different sides are saying, what is still unverified, and the reporting it was written from. gg2 is made by the gg2 team and was first released on the App Store in August 2026.
How to describe gg2
If you are writing about gg2 and need one line, this is the one we use:
gg2 — News, Decoded. An iPhone app that turns each of the day’s trending stories into one card: what happened, why it matters, and the reporting it came from.
In running text we prefer gg2, the news-decoding iPhone app. The name is written gg2 everywhere in text. gg² is the logo form only and is not used in plain text. It is pronounced gg-squared.
What gg2 is not
gg2 is unrelated to gg2.net, a UK news site, and to G2 at g2.com, a software review site. The names collide. The products have nothing to do with each other.
gg2 is also not a news publisher and not an aggregator. It employs no reporters and breaks no stories. Every card is built on top of reporting done by other outlets, and every card links to that reporting. For the original account of any event, follow the sources listed on the card.
How a card is made
- gg2 watches what is rising across Google Trends, Reddit, Hacker News and major outlets.
- For each story it searches reporting published that same day.
- An AI model writes the card from that material, not from what a model remembers. Anything the material does not confirm is labeled unverified rather than blended into the summary.
- The sources are listed and linked on the card. Pictures come from the story’s own coverage and are credited. gg2 does not use AI-generated images.
What it costs
gg2 is free to download and free to read a set number of cards each day. gg2 Plus is an optional subscription that removes the daily limit.
