Background
The film follows the 2021 leak by Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen of tens of thousands of internal documents, published in a Wall Street Journal exposé. Sorkin wrote and directed it as a companion to 2010's "The Social Network," and took the directing job himself because he wanted it released ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
