The gist
SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell and her husband are gifting over 2 million SpaceX shares to children's Trump Accounts, starting in December.
The gift targets lower-income teens that other Trump Account pledges don't reach.
Background
Gwynne Shotwell is president and chief operating officer of SpaceX and one of the company's largest individual shareholders; her husband Robert is co-donor. Trump Accounts are tax-deferred investment accounts for children that launched on July 4, 2026, with a $1,000 US Treasury deposit for every child born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028. Shotwell first announced the donation on July 6, less than a month after SpaceX priced its record IPO at $135 per share on the Nasdaq; IPO filings showed she owned about 12.6 million SpaceX shares.
