Archived — this story has rotated out of today’s deck. It is kept here in full.
The gist
AC Milan, 24th with three points, host Ferencváros, unbeaten with nine, at San Siro.
Milan need points to climb the table; Ferencváros chase a fourth straight win.
Background
AC Milan are the Italian club coached by Rúben Amorim, hosting Europa League Matchday 4 at San Siro (Stadio Giuseppe Meazza). Ferencváros are the Hungarian side who arrived with a perfect record of three wins from three in the league phase. The clubs have never met competitively; Milan's only previous European ties with a Hungarian side were against Győri ETO in the 1967/68 Cup Winners' Cup, both drawn. Milan's league-phase form has been erratic — a 0-2 loss to Benfica, a 4-0 win over Salzburg and a 0-3 loss to Bournemouth — leaving them 24th, while Ferencváros sit near the top of the table.
