The Big Island is still recovering from Hurricane Lala, so rain is the worry.

- Sep 23, 2026Tropical Depression 15-E strengthened into Tropical Storm Nolo, and a hurricane watch was issued for Hawaii County. As of 11 a.m. HT, Nolo's center was 310 miles south of South Point with 40-mph winds moving west-northwest at 6 mph; by 8 p.m. it was about 295 miles south of South Point with 45-mph winds moving west at 7 mph.
